Hi. I am new. And I don't know a thing about hacking, and this seemed like the nicest group of people that hack. I didn't want to post on some forums with mean hackers. So anyway, ever since I got into bittorrents, and reading around on these forums, I hear a lot about checking MD5's before downloading files and stuff, and I see MD5's listed on all bittorrent programs. So I was wondering what is an MD5? Please explain it in as much detail as you can, but not so much that a newb couldn't understand. Thanks in advance.

Quick Answer: MD5 is a 32 character hexadecimal value used for integrity.
