Just wondering I know on Wow such thing as "Private Servers" and im wondering what is the risk, disadvantage of this and if it is legal or not

i think private servers a better because:

1# there are alot of high rate server
2# almost ever private server is free
3# alot of servers support a higher level character

but private servers are illegal.
so i would thank the game makers for making an awesome game, and i would like to thank the hackers for cracking these games and make a server emu.
so i would say: Private servers are good, but illegal
