Map names

Occasionally I come upon some maps that are exactly the same except for a slight change in the name of the map and possibly some added "fixes". My question is, how do I find out what the exact map name I'm using is if both maps have the same custom title.

i.e. I download a map which I already have (supposedly), I then want to host that map but both have the appearance of the same name so as to fool some people.

In other words, I would like to find out the title of both maps and (if possible) see the exact name (xyz.w3x) in game (and/or on the map list, and/or in waiting room), without re-downloading or checking my maps folder.

Have banlist, start banlist and open the game.
In the banlist-window you see informations like the real mapname.


Or just move one of theses two maps into a new folder and than you know wich one you want.

Ehh, sort've figured that was how but couldn't check (at that moment :rolleyes: ) and was wondering if there were any other ways. Thanks.

theres not a way.

though usually if they have the same name the one with a ~ at the end will be the second one downloaded (second in the list as well)

however the map name (.w3x) could have been changed for it to appear first... so back to the original conclusion that there is no way =/

There is a way:
Have banlist, start banlist and open the game.
In the banlist-window you see informations like the real mapname.

At the start-window of banlist is the gamename, gametimer, realm and map.
I used it to join a game, while waiting for others open the map in WE and searches for cheates ;)

First off I apologize for posting this in the wrong thread, but I do not seem to have the permission to create a new thread.

My question is: How do you edit the display titles and map descriptions of optimized maps? Which files within the map do you edit? Eg. Changing the display name from "DotA Allstars 5.84" to "DotA Allstars Special Edited Version".

I've tried editing the war3map.wti and replacing it within the map archive, but it either hangs during creation of game (not loading into game lobby) or the game title became "Just another Warcraft III map" and the Suggested Players, Map Description along with the Game Lobby Team Names all get resetted to default.
