for me it always used to crahs when i used F4 to open maphack during the game, and it was good if i turned it on before the game started. When i got more ram memory on my computer, it never crashes when i use the hotkeys.

the only reason is that shadowfrench's programs suck, they are unoptimized, big
and coded in superslow vb...

Hi,

The latest version of SF:MH is still working (as others have posted). However, many users are experiencing the problem of not being able to use hotkeys. Aside from other errors like PID, Memory, and other crap. I am sure nobody cares, but I'll throw in my pocket lint in for kicks. Everything you do below is at your own risk, obviously.

Memory should not be the problem. Sure, the program itself isn't the greatest thing out there, but it works. And hopefully, these tips will work for others. If there is anything wrong with memory, it may have to do with DEP, or Data Execution Prevention. While this is unlikely the cause of your problems, you may have noticed it forcibly closing windows explorer or other things when doing intensive application work, such as loading filters for videos. DEP is supposed to prevent applications from executing harmful code from an offsite, non memory location. To disable it:

Disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) completely

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Under Pick a category, click Performance and Maintenance.
3. Under or Pick a Control Panel icon, click System.
4. Click the Advanced tab, and in the Startup and Recovery area, click Settings.
5. In the SystemStartup area, click Edit.
6. In Notepad, click Edit and then click Find.
7. In the Find what field, type /noexecute and then click Find Next.
8. In the Find dialog box click Cancel.
9. Replace the policy_level (for example, "OptIn" default) with "AlwaysOff" (without the quotes).

WARNING: Be sure to enter the text carefully. Your boot.ini file switch should now read:

/noexecute=AlwaysOff
10. In Notepad, click File and then click Save.
11. Click OK to close Startup and Recovery.
12. Click OK to close System Properties and then restart your computer.

This setting does not provide any DEP coverage for any part of the system, regardless of hardware DEP support.

Verifying DEP is Disabled

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Under Pick a category, click Performance and Maintenance.
3. Under or Pick a Control Panel icon, click System.
4. Click the Advanced tab.
5. In the Performance area, click Settings and then click Data Execution Prevention.
6. Verify that the DEP settings are unavailable and then click OK to close Performance Settings.
7. Click OK to close System Properties then close Performance and Maintenance.

Next up is anti-virus software. Most people these days still norton symantec antivirus. Good for them. Or some shit like MacAffee. More savvy users rely on hardware configs, network gateways, and less well known programs like NOD32, Kaspersky, or maybe Panda or AVG. In anycase, protection is great, but hard to guarentee without making sure the user doesnt **** around and jack off to every porn site they happen to stumble upon. In anycase, your antivirus program may be causing the SF program to not work. Why is this? Well the SF program obviously "injects" itself into the Warcraft application, and antivirus programs dont like that. Just like other hacks/cracks/smacks out there for programs, many of them will modify memory, registry, and other settings like the TCP outbound ID, to trick the program into thinking its legit. In this case, its no exception. However, this really shouldnt be a problem as if it was working in the past, why would it happen now. Best suggestion is to try it with AV disabled, or try it with exceptions for the AV program enabled for SF:MH. Does this work for people? Yes. Depending on some of your AV programs, changing the execption rule (you can make it "just" an exception, but making sure the exception is configured properly for something that is labled as risk-ware will probably make SF:MH much more usable) to properly identify the SF:MH will be the best option.

A workaround: You probably tried this already, and failed if you're still reading this. But if not, a lot of people who dont even know about this place, have had this problem with hotkeys, and are using the work around where they manually toggle the on and off keys after alt tabbing. This enables the program to work normally, without using hotkeys, and obviously bypasses the hotkeys cause fatal error problem. Why does this work for some? It is because while Warcraft 3 is minimized, the SF:MH usage is not treated as a verdic class "invader" type intrusion method. What the **** does that mean? It means it works differently as opposed to activating it while in game instead of alt-tabbed.

What about myself? Have I had these problems and fixed them. Yes. Like you, I had the hotkey problem. It is now fixed.

But in the end, there are other choices out there. And my name on bnet is TasteytheRainbow, Northerend.

Just to clarify. DEP does not have to be off for SFMH to work. Most people have it ON.
